The Perinatal Health Coalition is a division of RESPITE the System, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our mission is to drive transformative change through independent, trauma informed research, comprehensive education, and holistic support. By integrating evidence based practices and fostering collaboration across diverse care systems, we work to prevent systemic failures, reduce adverse outcomes, and promote individual well being while building trauma informed communities.

Our vision is to build a future where trauma-informed care is the foundation of healthy, thriving communities. Through our initiatives in research, education, and support, we aspire to create integrated, holistic systems of care that empower both families and professionals. The Perinatal Health Coalition will foster resilience, reduce trauma, and prevent poor outcomes throughout the lifespan.

Emergency Birth & Women’s Health Preparedness

This full day training teaches practical, hands on skills for responding to women’s health emergencies and birth situations when hospitals are unavailable, help is far away, or emergency services are delayed.

Participants will learn how to recognize common women’s health concerns, support uncomplicated birth, respond to complications, and care for mothers and newborns in the critical moments after delivery.

Topics include recognizing labor progression, safely assisting birth, managing postpartum bleeding, newborn assessment, and understanding when immediate action is needed.

No medical background is required. This workshop is designed for families, birth workers, preparedness minded individuals, and community responders.

Day three is designed specifically for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physicians, and healthcare professionals who may respond to maternal or newborn emergencies outside the hospital setting.

This training focuses on practical clinical response when medical resources and medications are available. Participants will explore emergency obstetric scenarios, maternal stabilization, newborn resuscitation considerations, and coordinated response during transport or field care.

The goal is to strengthen preparedness, confidence, and coordination among healthcare professionals responding to perinatal emergencies in real world conditions.
